"In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing. The worst thing you can do is nothing." - Theodore Roosevelt
John Crenshaw, Founder & Chief executive officer
The Crenshaw Ventures & Investment Holdings CEO, John Crenshaw, is a man of little words and many ambitions. Mr. Crenshaw plays an integral role in the growth of the organization including strategic management, risk management, team character development, and achieving financial objectives. In other words - he balances the day-to-day obstacles of owning multiple businesses all while staying up to date with the latest trends in order to maximize marketing capability to a growing youth audience.
A workaholic having grown up a ‘military brat’, Crenshaw started his entrepreneurial journey at the young age of 17 after leaving his position at a local grocery store to pursue his dream of owning something of his own. His first business venture was started with a childhood friend selling in-game items from popular video games. His second was a wholesale clothing business ran and distributed via popular B2B websites. Bored of this, he quickly moved to buying broken/under-priced cellphones to repair and subsequently sell them with a similar business model to the company he would eventually create - Console Pros.
He is fascinated by “making something from nothing” and stories of fellow entrepreneurs achieving the American dream. He states his only goal in life is to change the world and ultimately leave it a better place.
Questions and answers
We asked John Crenshaw what he thinks about the following topics:
What inspires him:
“Perceptual Phenomena. How an individuals entire world is created and molded by their own perception. It’s incredible to think about and really puts things into perspective once you understand it.”
How to visualize the future:
“Ha! I’m young, I’m only 23. All I can do is visualize the future. I can say people often call me a “visionary” or something like that - I’m not a visionary, I just make my dreams a reality. Anyone can do it, you are the only Captain in the Sea of Life.”
What makes him proud:
“We are seeing changes all over the United States but most noticeably in places like Texas. Small businesses and local, community-orientated events are becoming not-so-small and not-so-local and experience great success. This is an amazing opportunity to turn a little into a lot. I am proud that Crenshaw Ventures is apart of this. ”
How he copes with stress:
“This is something I learned a lot about recently after our first real festival. Humans are quick to overestimate their own significance and in reality, life goes on whether you’re here or you’re not. The trees grow, the water flows, and if you have a successful business - someone takes over! Live and let live.”
The courage to fail:
“Failure is simply the name of the road in your journey to success. When you’re pursuing things that have never been done before, setbacks go with the territory – nine out of ten business projects fail. Unless you have the courage to fail, you’ll never be successful.
Believe it or not, I’ve been lucky enough to experience a lot of business wins and I hope to experience more in the future but I have experienced my fair share of losses - I am the last person you will ever see quit. Never quit, never settle.”
